Known for his gregarious nature and immaculate culinary skills, he has won over connoisseurs and fans across the world. So, it is not exaggerating at all to say that he is the most famous chef in the country!
He honed his cooking skills at the prestigious California Culinary Academy and has received numerous awards over the years, including the most recent Food Ambassador Award & The Master Chef of The Year at the World Top Gourmet Awards.

Awards and Achievements
Datuk (Dr) Redzuawan Ismail, popularly known as Chef Wan has numerous achievements and has received many awards. In recent years, at the World Gourmand Food and Media Awards in Beijing 2007, Chef Wan was awarded the Lifetime Jury Award “at the Le Mazille Prix”. In the same year, he also received the Prominent Modern Malay Chef Award by UiTM, Pulau Pinang, the Honorary Fellowship Award from Thames Valley University of London School of Hospitality and was also chosen as one of the eight most outstanding Malaysian of the year in celebration of Malaysia’s 50th Independence Day by NTV7.
His response to receiving these awards … “It’s a complete surprise, this is such a prestigious award. Am I dreaming? There are so many other chefs like Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson and many more that equally deserve this. I am very grateful and honoured to receive such an award and to have been internationally recognized”.
In 2009, he received an AMP Award from the King of Majapahit, Keraton Palace, Suraharta Hadiningrat, Jawa, Indonesia. In addition, he was also awarded ‘The Best Celebrity Chef in the world Award’ in the World Gourmand Cookbook & Media Awards in Paris. In 2010, he was bestowed with the ‘Friends of Thailand Award’ from the Royal kingdom of Thailand. He was also appointed as the Food Ambassador of Malaysia by the Minister of Tourism, Malaysia. In 2012, he achieved The Lifetime Achievement Award for South East Asia Cuisine” under the Hospitality and Dining Awards 2011/2012 category.
On Jan 27, 2019, Chef Wan has was awarded the Darjah Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (DSAP), by Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, which carries the title Datuk. Chef Wan said his success is much sweeter now because of all the challenges he has had to face.
