There was a recent signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) and the Peruvian National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR). CANATUR connects organisations that carry out activities related to tourism in Peru. It organises congresses, seminars and other tourism related activities both inside and outside the country. Likewise, MATTA is the national umbrella representative body for the entire travel industry in Malaysia, comprising local tour and travel organisations as well as numerous overseas affiliations and promoting the interests of the travel and tourism industry in the country. It works closely with other Malaysian associations helping organise fairs, seminars, conventions and workshops to create public awareness of the tourism industry as well as to benefit its members. The MOU will foster closer cooperation between the two countries and improve travel ties. The event was witnessed by MATTA President, Datuk Tan Kok Liang and by the Ambassador of the Republic of Peru, HE Guido Loayza and the CANATUR President Mr. Carlos Canales, via teleconferencing. www.matta.org.my
