There is a tiny stingless bee native to Malaysia that produces small amounts of high quality honey with a sour sweet taste. The Trigona Bee lends its name to Bar Trigona on the seventh floor of the Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur. Ashish Sharma, ex Manhattan Singapore is the head bartender of this stylish downtown bar. Cocktails are based upon the four sections of a plant: the fruit, root, stem and seed and flower and leaf. Four cocktails are listed under each category with Trigona honey present in most of them. The Pollen, for example, includes citrus, applejack, Trigona honey, yoghurt and kaffir lime leaves. Kelulut is crafted from bourbon, peat-infused whisky, Trigona honey, grapefruit and rosemary.
