Turkish Airlines has its sights set on two new destinations in 2019 with the planned launching of flights to Luxor (Egypt) and Rovaniemi (Finland) later in the year. Luxor is well-known as a once powerful city in ancient Egypt. Located in southern Egypt on the east bank of the Nile River, Luxor is home to Thebes, Luxor Temple, Karnak and the royal tombs in the Valley of Kings on the west bank. It is also the departure port for Luxor to Aswan Nile Cruises. While not as well-known, Rovaniemi in northern Finland is the capital of Lapland. It is close to the heart of every child as Rovaniemi is the official home of Santa Claus. It has also developed a reputation as a destination to admire the Northern Lights. Flights to Rovaniemi will commence in December 2019 and operate three times per week on a seasonal schedule until late March. Luxor flights will commence in late September and operate four times per week.
