
Novotel, AccorHotels’ midscale brand, has opened in Haikou, the Hainan capital. Located on Xinbu Island, a new development in Haikou’s northeast, the hotel welcomes guests who travel to Hainan for its tropical climate and sun-blessed beaches. Located where the Nandu River enters the Qiongzhou Strait, the hotel has superb sea vistas. Its opening is well timed with recently-announced plans for the island’s transformation into China’s largest free-trade zone. The U-shaped building houses 141 rooms including 15 deluxe rooms with balconies. Dining options include Square (local and international buffets plus à la carte). It also offers traditional Cantonese, Sichuan and Hainan cuisine. The Lobby Lounge serves a selection of beverages complemented by savoury snacks. Facilities include In Balance by Novotel fitness as well as kids’ club, swimming pool and tennis court. Function space includes three versatile meeting rooms. The 800m² pillarless ballroom can host up to 600 guests. The hotel also features a terrace for outdoor events and weddings. It is a five-minute taxi ride to downtown Haikou with its 700-year-old arcade and streets featuring local delicacies. The capital’s attractions including Five Ancestral Temple, East Harbour Mangrove Nature Park, and Baishamen Park are accessible from the hotel. It is a 40-minute drive from Haikou Meilan International Airport and 90 minutes by high speed train to Sanya.
